Ricardo and Alex have been married just two and half years, and we have been blessed with an abundance of experiences. Alex came to El Salvador as a missionary in 2016 to serve in the young adult’s discipleship program where Ricardo was also serving as a bible teacher. They became good friends as he was one of the few staff members who spoke English with me. Over the years the Lord led Alex into teaching English at the church school and serving in children’s ministry while Ricardo mainly stuck close to working with youth and young adults. After almost four years of friendship and serving together on countless occasions, God opened their eyes and at the end of 2019 they started dating. After the pandemic, in 2021 they were engaged in the most romantic way possible and their wedding was January 16, 2022. Eleven months later and Ricardo and Alex became parents to the most beautiful little girl in the world, Samantha Abigail.
Their roles serving The Lord in El Salvador range depending on the season and activities occurring at our church. Mostly they are discipling young adults in the three-month program they host on the church property (where they also live). There, Ricardo and Alex get to spend 24/7 with up to 30 youth at a time who live on property for the duration of the three-month program. As a married couple, and now young parents, they have become more like “mom and dad” figures to the those who have attended in these last couple years. When there is no discipleship program occurring, they might be teaching classes at the church school, discipling youth in the volleyball league, serving in conferences hosted by the church, translating teachings, hosting mission teams, etc. The Lord has blessed Ricardo and Alex in a variety of ways to be able to serve Him here in this beautiful country.
